• Zardari is not my rival: Nawaz

    Former Prime Minister and Chief of PML-N, Mian Nawaz Sharif has cleared that neither he considers President Asif Ali Zardari his rival nor it was odd to hold meetings with political leaders of all parties.

    Expressing these views in an exclusive interview given to Geo News' anchors Hamid Mir and Sohail Waraich, Mian Nawaz Sharif said that he would advise President Asif Ali Zardari that time was running out to save the democracy. He said that he has always talked with President Asif Ali Zardari in better interest of Pakistan.

    Mian Nawaz Sharif said that he has his own political family, which was looted by different governments. Nawaz Sharif said that his father set up a factory in Lahore in 1973, which was confiscated by Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto, while another factory in (earlier) Eastern Pakistan had also been seized. He further said that he has to face loss of Rs170 million through planes in the era of Benazir.

    He said that their remaining factories and properties were seized in the era of Pervez Musharraf, who trapped him in false cases.

    Mian Nawaz Sharif said that his assets were the ownership of his entire family.

    He further said that he wanted to keep the politics separate from his industry and business. However, he said that he had paid amount of Rs6 billion in the head of taxes.

    Replying to a question he said that Pervez Musharraf came into power through illegally.

    He said that implementation on Charter of Democracy would have made the position of President more effective, and said that it would also be more better not to allow NRO being tabled in the parliament.

    PML-N Chief and former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Mian Nawaz Sharif has said that it is court which will give its verdict on the cases open after abolishment of National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO), however, President enjoys immunity under the Constitution and the courts will reach a verdict in the backdrop of this fact.

    Mian Nawaz Sharif said that issue of NRO against President Asif Ali Zardari purely deals with court. He said that President enjoys immunity under the constitution and courts will reach the verdict in the backdrop of this immunity.

    He further said that judiciary is free and independent and he personally can't say anything regarding the legal and constitutional complexities on this issue.

    While replying to a He said that Saudi Arabia was a close friend of Pakistan and both countries enjoyed brotherly relations; therefore, it would not be suitable to drag Saudi Arabia into Pakistani politics

    In response to a question, Mian Nawaz Sharif said that terrorism always flourished in martial law dictatorial regimes.

    Nawaz Sharif said that the door leading to martial law would have to be closed to eradicate terrorism, Private TV Channel reported.

    The PML-N Chief observed that it were consistent democratic regimes in India that have blocked the way to terrorism there.

    Nawaz Sharif said that meeting of Mian Shahbaz Sharif and Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan with Chief of the Army Staff is not something unique. He said that these meetings might dealt with situation of security.

    He further said that no change has been witnessed in the system and existing system of Musharraf. He said that people have voted for change but that is yet to come. He said that neither he supports mid-term election nor he is in favour of minus one and minus two formulas.

    He said that integrity and solidarity of Pakistan were more dear to him instead of becoming Prime Minister for third time.

    Replying to a question he said that during the meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari he had talked about the Musharraf's trail but issue of Kerry Lugar Bill did not come under discussion.
